2011 Summer Movie Series

This year both the summer movie series and the summer concert series will be held on Tuesdays in Lamb Steele Park.

The Downtown Development Authority is excited to bring FREE outdoor movies to the big screen this summer. All movies will be shown on Tuesdays. If there is bad weather, the movie will be cancelled.

The Movie Series is made possible thanks to a grant received in 2007 by the Four County Community Foundation.

July 5, Yankee Doodle Dandy

James Cagney plays George M. Cohan and the role earned him an Academy Award® for his marvelous singing and dancing performance as the great songwriter and performer. Highlights include "Over There," "Give My Regards to Broadway," and the famous line "My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my sister thanks you, and I thank you."

Wear your red, white and blue and celebrate America's independence with this classic 1943 film. The Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce will give 100 hand-held American flags to movie goers, members of the American Legion will be present and we will sing patriotic songs before the movie.

July 12, Superman!

You'll believe a man can fly in this, the spectacular motion picture that started it all! Filled with astonishing special effects and featuring top-quality performances by an all-star cast, SUPERMAN THE MOVIE stars Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet who is, in reality, the Man of Steel, protector of truth, justice, and the American way.

Come dressed as your favorite super hero and participate in the Costume Contest and watch the movie that made Christopher Reeve famous. A special appearance by real heroes, the Imlay City Fire and Police Department, will make this a very special night!

July 19, Field of Dreams

Against all odds, Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner), a simple Iowa farmer finds the courage to believe in his dreams. When Ray hears voices telling him to build a baseball diamond, his magical journey begins as he meets baseball greats who need his help to fulfill their dreams of days gone by in this magical fantasy.

Hotdogs, peanuts and cracker jacks... Let's play ball! Kids will love the special baseball activities scheduled before the movie and everyone will enjoy this movie about America's favorite pastime!

The Imlay City Band Boosters will sell concessions at all summer movies and concerts! Thanks, Boosters!

All movies will begin at dusk in Lamb Steele Park, behind City Hall, unless noted differently. Movies will be canceled in case of bad weather.
