Identify and facilitate opportunities for clean up and redevelopment of commercial and industrial sites:
- Use the provisions of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority to assist in the clean up of specific sites
- Identify and apply for Environmental Protection Grants specified towards Brownfield Site Redevelopment (2004 applications programs expected to begin in late summer)
Provide individual assistance to developers and potential investors of district properties.
Continue development of new site assistance programs.
Continue implementation of downtown marketing plan including print material and web site development.
Utilize the Lapeer Development Corporation and their expertise on economic development projects and programs.
Meet with district business owners on a regular basis to encourage business retention and expansion within the district.
Provide incentive’s to local business owners including the offering of business service seminars and other special services.
Continue to make use of and support the following programs:
- Brownfield Redevelopment Authority
- Tax Increment Finance Authority
- Downtown Development Authority
- Imlay City Façade Loan Program
- Lapeer Development Corporation
- Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificates
- Tax Exempt Industrial Facilities Revenue Bonds
Examine the possibility of purchasing property to serve as commercial incubators.
Continued recruitment of new business to meet market opportunities.
Assisting in the improvement and quality of downtown businesses.
