Project Purpose
The streetscape enhancement project is intended to suggest aesthetic improvements to Imlay City's Third Street between North Almont and M-53. Recommendations for this portion of Third Street can be applied to the downtown as a whole. These recommendations include new street furniture, facade restoration, street trees, landscaping, paving, including new curb line design, a new public plaza, and a gateway to the downtown.
These visual improvements will create a unified streetscape tying together the seperate businesses and public spaces that create a downtown. It should be noted that visual improvements alone do not create a successful downtown. A vibrant, successful downtown is created by a team of dedicated city staff, their design professionals, a procative DDA, local merchants and near by residents working together to holistically study the downtown.
