The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority was established in 2003 by the Imlay City Commission through Resolution 2003-08 to support redevelopment and economic growth efforts. This authority can fund projects in both TIF districts, the DDA, and the NIA. This Authority meets on an as-needed basis.
The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority must have no fewer than five (5) and no more than nine (9) members. The Board of Directors shall consist of members of the DDA. The DDA Director will serve as staff to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.
What is the Brownfield Program?
Michigan's Brownfield Redevelopment Program is a key economic development tool that helps transform underutilized, blighted, or environmentally challenged properties into productive uses.
Eligible Activities Include:
- Environmental assessment and cleanup
- Demolition and site preparation
- Infrastructure improvements
- Public improvements tied to redevelopment
- Site and building redevelopment costs
Recent expanded use of Brownfield incentives for residential
- Market-rate housing (in certain cases)
- Mixed-use developments
- Projects that address local housing needs
